It’s from the director of Training Day and the creator of True Detective.

One of 2023’s most shocking movies has just been added to Prime Video but if you need more to watch this Christmas Eve Eve Eve, here are the films on TV tonight:

The Magnificent Seven – Virgin Media Two – 9pm
This remake of the 1960 Western classic of the same name (which itself was a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai) focuses on seven gunmen (including Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke) from a variety of backgrounds who are brought together by a vengeful young widow (Haley Bennett).

This is to protect her town from the private army of a destructive industrialist (Peter Sarsgaard).

Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer trilogy) and co-written by Nic Pizzolatto (the creator of True Detective), this version of The Magnificent Seven landed in cinemas in 2016 to solid reviews.

The general consensus was that though the movie did not reach the lofty heights of its predecessors, it is still an entertaining Western in its own right.

2016’s The Magnificent Seven is also available to rent on Apple TV+ and the Sky Store. Check out its trailer right here:

Saving Private Ryan – RTÉ2 – 9.40pm
Spielberg’s legendary World War II drama.

Gangs of New York – TG4 – 9.50pm
Not one of Scorsese’s best crime movies but it does feature an unreal Daniel Day-Lewis performance.
