In the lead-up to the release of Marvel's latest superhero movie Black Panther, we were given the opportunity to chat to two of the actors, Martin Freeman and Andy Serkis.
In fact, in a cast mostly filled out with great black actors, and since Freeman was in The Hobbit, and Serkis was in The Lord Of The Rings, they have since been referred to as The Tolkien White Guys. (Geddit?)
We've put our full review here, and the film folk at JOE and Her discuss their favourite superhero movies in The Big Reviewski episode below, from 22:30 onwards:
When we sat down with Freeman and Serkis, we did chat about the incredibly talented director Ryan Coogler, who at the age of 31 has already had three amazing movies on his CV, including Creed and Fruitvale Station.
However, the conversation soon turned to the fact that Serkis has been in both a Marvel movie and a Star Wars movie, and gets his ass handed to him in both series. Serkis joins the likes of Benicio Del Toro, Mads Mikklesen, and Forest Whitaker, as actors who have starred in both of the Disney universes.
So we had to ask Freeman if he was up for such a crossover too, and if those conversations had already come up. And his answer will get your mind running.
Who do you reckon they were talking about? We've got our guesses, most definitely.
We also chatted to director Ryan Coogler, which you can check out right here.
Black Panther is in Irish cinemas right now, and if you haven't seen it yet, you can check out the official trailer below:
