A terrifically creepy horror is among the movies on TV tonight

Stephen Porzio

This 2009 chiller deserves a bigger audience.

Today is Wednesday, meaning the weekend is sadly two days away.

While this fact no doubt comes as a disappointment to you, it does not mean you can’t relax this evening on the sofa with a good movie.

In keeping with this, here are what films are on the box tonight.

Bohemian Rhapsody – Film4 – 9pm

Rami Malek took home the Best Actor Oscar for his work playing Freddie Mercury in this music biopic.

The Meg – Comedy Central – 9pm

It’s Jason Statham vs a big shark in this flick JOE previously called the “the greatest movie of all time… for about three minutes”.

Hard to Kill – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Steven Seagal plays an LA police detective that is… hard to kill.

All My Sons – Great! Movies Classic – 9pm

Burt Lancaster and Edward G. Robinson star in this ’40s adaptation of Arthur Miller’s classic play.

Sirocco – Great! Movies Classic – 10.50pm

This 50’s noir sees Hollywood legend Humphrey Bogart play a cynical American expatriate who gets involved in smuggling and gun-running in 1920’s Syria.

The House of the Devil – Horror Channel – 10.55pm

Our pick for tonight follows a young college student (Jocelin Donahue) in the ’80s who finds herself in a dangerous situation after being hired as a babysitter by an elderly couple.

The breakthrough film from writer-director Ti West – whose slasher X this year earned rave reviews – The House of the Devil starts slow before gradually ratcheting up the tension, eventually escalating in a truly nail-biting finale.

Also, on top of featuring an early onscreen turn by Greta Gerwig, the movie looks incredible – with West shooting the film on retro equipment and deploying cinematic flourishes more popular in the ’70s and ’80s to better capture the vibes of the era.

Lethal Weapon – Turner Classic Movies – 11pm

An absolute classic in the buddy cop action film sub-genre, why not take JOE’s recent Lethal Weapon quiz we whipped together to mark its 35th anniversary.

The Untouchables – Film4 – 11.45pm

This classic gangster drama about Prohibition Agent Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner) and his efforts to stop ruthless Chicago gangster Al Capone (Robert De Niro) also recently celebrated its 35th anniversary.
