An Oscar-winning romantic drama is among the movies on TV tonight

This bank holiday Monday evening is set to be a rainy one.

But you can still have a good night by staying in with a good film.

Here are the movies on television tonight.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol – Film4 – 9pm

The Mission: Impossible movie with the incredible sequence at the Burj Khalifa (aka the world’s tallest building!) in Dubai.

The Da Vinci Code – Sky Showcase – 9pm

Tom Hanks stars in this adaptation of the bestselling mystery thriller novel.

Angels & Demons – RTÉ2 – 9pm

Alternatively, you could watch this movie sequel to The Da Vinci Code that also stars Hanks.

Under Siege 2: Dark Territory – ITV4 – 9pm

Steven Seagal returns as ex-Navy SEAL Casey Ryback in this follow-up that moves the action from a ship to a train.

Hard to Kill – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

Seagal stars again, this time playing an LA police detective that is… hard to kill.

Last Shift – Horror Channel – 9pm

A rookie cop’s shift alone on the last night of a closing police station turns into a living nightmare in this indie horror with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

A Star is Born – RTÉ One – 9.30pm

Our pick for tonight follows an alcoholic musician (Bradley Cooper, who also directed the movie) that discovers and falls in love with a young singer (Lady Gaga).

Released in 2018, this remake received eight nominations at the Oscars and won in the Best Original Song category.

It’s no surprise the movie was so beloved, given the electric chemistry between Cooper and Gaga, its incredible songs and its emotionally affecting story.

Life of Pi – TG4 – 9.30pm

Another Oscar winner – it took home four prizes including for Best Director – Life of Pi tells the tale of a young man (Suraj Sharma) who survives a disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery.

30 Days of Night – Horror Channel – 10.45pm

An Alaskan town is beset by vampires as it enters into a 30-day-long polar night in this very underrated horror flick.

The Client – Turner Classic Movies – 11pm

Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones star in this ’90s legal thriller adapted from a John Grisham book.

Coogan’s Bluff – ITV4 – 11.05pm

This ’60s crime thriller is the first collaboration between Clint Eastwood and director Don Siegel who would later work together on Dirty Harry and Escape from Alcatraz.

Apocalypse Now: Final Cut – BBC Two – 11.15pm

An extended cut of one of the greatest films of all time.

American Ultra – Film4 – 11.40pm

This decent action-comedy centres on a young stoner (Jesse Eisenberg) who discovers he was part of a secret government program and is a sleeper agent.
