In the mood for a movie tonight? You’re in luck. There are some excellent choices amongst the movies on TV this Monday evening.

Our pick of the bunch is a critically acclaimed gritty action thriller from the year 2012 – End of Watch.

The David Ayer-directed film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena as two Los Angeles Police Department officers who work in South Central Los Angeles.

Shot documentary style, the film focuses on the duo’s day-to-day police work, as well as their dealings with a certain group of gang members in the area.

End of Watch has been praised by critics for its focus on cops on and off duty and their relationship with each other. Others have said that the performance from Pena is arguably the best of his career, while Gyllenhaal’s is also among his best.

With a solid 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, the realism and climax of the film has also been lauded by critics and viewers alike.

If you’re into police procedurals of any kind or even just other David Ayer films like Fury or The Beekeeper then this will be right up your street.

You can check out End of Watch on TG4 tonight at 9.30pm.
