THE WEEKEND.
Off to Metallica or The Cure? Enjoy.
Not going to an old school gig? Let’s stay here, so.
Here’s the best movies available on your television screen on this Saturday 8 June…
X-Men: The Last Stand – Film 4 – 6.55pm
Held the distinction of being the silliest, most undercooked X-Men film until Dark Phoenix stumbled along.
The Fugitive – TCM – 9pm
He didn’t kill his wife. OR DID HE?!
Fast & Furious 6 – E4 – 9pm
Luke Evans is the baddie as the Furious team face off against a mirror image of themselves.
Not as good as 5, not as insane as 7, but one of the best of the series, for sure.
Hitman: Agent 47 – Channel 4 – 9pm
If you thought that they couldn’t make a worse Hitman adaptation than the 2007 attempt, Agent 47 kindly asks you to hold its beer.
Criminal – Film 4 – 9pm
Kevin Costner leads an impressive cast as a violent man in search of his memory.
21 – RTÉ 2 – 10.25pm
Jim Sturgess trades academia for the casino in this fast-paced scam caper.
Kevin Spacey also features, if you can stomach him.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – ITV – 10.40pm
Really rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?
Let Me In – SyFy – 11pm
Remake of vampire drama Let The Right One In.
Not as good, but fine enough.
Ronin – ITV4 – 12.05am
Strong Euro-thriller with a terrific car chase.
Metallica: Through The Never – Channel 4 – 2.15am
If you happen to get home from Slane at the reasonable hour of around 2am, this wacky Metallica concert movie feels just about right, doesn’t it?
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
