If you’re in the mood for a no-nonsense action thriller, then look no further as S.W.A.T. is on TV tonight.
The 2003 film, starring Colin Farrell alongside Samuel L. Jackson, airs on Film4 at 11.40pm.
Based on the classic 1970s TV series, S.W.A.T. follows an elite Los Angeles police unit tasked with handling the city’s most dangerous situations.
The story centres on Jim Street (Farrell), a talented but disgraced officer looking to redeem himself after a botched operation derails his career.
He’s recruited by veteran cop Hondo (Jackson) into a newly assembled, top-tier S.W.A.T. unit.
Their biggest challenge comes when a captured international criminal offers a massive cash reward to anyone who can break him out of police custody.
Suddenly, the entire city becomes a battleground, with gangs and mercenaries all trying to cash in leaving the S.W.A.T. team in a race against time to keep control.
It’s a classic setup.
Alongside Farrell and Jackson, the film boasts a stacked early-2000s cast, including Michelle Rodriguez, LL Cool J, and Jeremy Renner in one of his earlier roles.
The film received mixed reviews overall but for a Tuesday night in it's an absolute banger.
S.W.A.T. airs on Film4 tonight at 11.40pm.
