A total hidden gem comedy is among the movies on TV tonight

Rory Cashin

Gloria Bell

Your Tuesday evening movie menu has arrived!

Amazon Prime Video has just added 15 huge movies to its library, but if none of those tickle your fancy, here are our picks for the movies on TV tonight, starting with…

Die Hard 2 – ITV4 – 9pm

Die Hard… but in an aiport… but not as good as the first one. Still very watchable, mind.

Scary Movie – Comedy Central – 9pm

A comedy that, thanks to the very specific references of the time, and some blatant homophobia, has not aged very well at all.

Limbo – FilmFour – 9pm

A brilliant comedic drama about a talented musician from Syria who is stuck on an island off the coast of Scotland while waiting to hear about their request for asylum.

USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage – TCM – 9pm

You know that speech from Jaws? Yeah, this is that boat that was torpedoed by Japan and then the survivors attacked by sharks. Despite that incredible story, this Nic Cage-fronted war movie still only has 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Forced Out – Sky Showcase – 10.15pm

This powerful documentary tells the stories of LGBTQIA+ members of the armed forces who were dishonourably discharged from their positions once their sexualities were revealed to their superiors.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith – FilmFour – 11.10pm

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie play husband and wife who are also both secretly two of the best assassins in the world. But all those secrets come out when they become each other’s next targets. A fun and sexy action comedy thriller.

Gloria Bell – BBC Two – 11.15pm

Our main pick for the night is Gloria Bell, a massively overlooked comedy drama gem. Julianne Moore stars as Gloria Bell, a recent divorcee who crosses paths with a man in a nightclub, but finds it difficult to strike the balance between newfound love and the complications of the modern dating world. With a score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and a tight 100 minute runtime, this is definitely deserving of your time tonight.

Lethal Weapon 3 – TCM – 11.45pm

They were getting too old for this shit in the first movie. So, yeah, they’re definitely too old for it by now.

Girls Trip – FilmFour – 1.30am

One of the funniest comedies of the last few years. Worth setting to record so you can watch it at your own pleasure later in the week.
