One week after adding the hit show Legends, Netflix has released another crime thriller series, with this new one even being compared to the Al Pacino/Robert De Niro classic Heat.

Last week, we wrote about how the critically acclaimed crime thriller series, Legends, had been added to Netflix.

But if you are looking for another well-reviewed show in the same genre on the service, you are in luck, as the streamer has just released Nemesis.

Coming from writer Courtney A. Kemp (creator of Power) and director Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City), the series follows two men in Los Angeles on different sides of the law, who become embroiled in a cat-and-mouse game.

These are Detective Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law, Abbott Elementary) and heist mastermind Coltrane Wilder (Y’lan Noel, The First Purge), with the cop becoming obsessed with taking the career criminal down, no matter the personal cost.

"Nemesis is the story of two men on different sides of the law, the tale of what happens when an unstoppable force (an expert criminal) meets an immovable object (a brilliant police detective)," the plot synopsis from Netflix reads.

"What starts as a subversion of the heist genre, amped by thrilling life-or-death stakes, family dynamics, and explosive action, becomes an exploration of what drives us, sustains us, and ultimately destroys us."

Co-starring Cleopatra Coleman (Black Rabbit), as well as The Wire's Domenick Lombardozzi and Michael Potts, Nemesis currently holds a very high 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In particular, the series has been praised for its set-up, which recalls '90s crime thriller classic Heat, as well as its characters and action sequences.

You can read a sample of some of the glowing reviews for Nemesis below:

RIOTUS: "I haven’t been this interested and excited by an original Netflix show in a while. Nemesis is a fantastic show full of excellently executed tension and action set pieces."

RogerEbert.com: "When it pops off, it’s entertaining, and your patience will ultimately be rewarded."

Vulture: "Little did I know the next great Heat evocation... would show up on television... But that’s exactly what Nemesis is: a layered, propulsive series exemplifying the energy and dynamism that keeps the cops-and-robbers genre so appealing. It’s a shot of pure adrenaline and hell-yeah vigour followed up with a chaser of pathos and longing."

All eight episodes of Nemesis are streaming on Netflix now.
