Their next project comes after the success of Don’t Look Up.
Netflix and Adam McKay are teaming up once again for a new star-studded flick called Average Height, Average Build.
Described as part serial killer-thriller, part comedy, the upcoming film stars Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr., Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler. McKay, who has written the script, will also direct and produce.
According to Deadline, the plot focuses on Pattinson’s character, a serial killer who enlists a lobbyist (Adams) to change laws that will allow him to get away with murder more easily. Downey plays a retired cop who won’t give up on the murders and goes after Pattinson’s character.
The revealed cast will all work with McKay for the first time in their careers, apart from Adams, who reunites with the director after earning an Oscar nomination in best supporting actress for her role as Lynne Cheney in their 2018 comedy Vice.
McKay is enjoying great success with his current project, Succession, in its last season on HBO. He also helmed the extremely successful Don’t Look Up in 2021, which was his first project with Netflix.
The political satire flick is Netflix’s second most popular film of all time with nearly 360 million hours viewed in the first 28 days after its release, reaching #1 in 92 countries.
Don’t Look Up also received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and won Best Original Screenplay at the Writers Guild of America Awards.
Other projects from McKay include the aforementioned Vice, Oscar winner The Big Short, the Anchorman series and Step Brothers.
