Netflix reveals four huge documentaries on some of the most famous people in the world

Robbie Williams, David Beckham, George Michael and Tyson Fury have all been announced as the subjects of brand new Netflix documentaries.

On the evening of Wednesday 26 April, Netflix invited a select few to a top-secret location in London to glimpse some of their upcoming exclusive movies and shows arriving on the streaming service throughout 2023 and 2024.

JOE was lucky enough to check out teasers, trailers, clips, behind-the-scenes snippets and in-person chats with some of the stars and creators – including Daniel Kaluuya, Michelle Keegan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jamie Dornan, Charlie Brooker, and loads more – but the entire event kicked off with a number of new documentaries that will be centred around some of the biggest celebrities in the world today and/or the last few decades.

Here are the subjects, release dates and official breakdowns for the four huge documentary series or movies arriving on Netflix over the next few months:

Robbie Williams (Untitled Netflix Doc Series)

Director: Joe Pearlman (Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now) – Launch date: TBC 2023

Official synopsis: The multi-part series which will launch in 2023 will be an unfiltered, in-depth examination of a global icon and natural-born-entertainer who had to navigate the highs and lows of being in the limelight for more than 30 years. It will cover Robbie navigating media scrutiny throughout his career, adulation and addiction, professional and personal break-ups, reunions, recovery, and the impact they have had on his mental health. Featuring 25 years’ worth of intimate, never-before-seen archive, and exclusive access to Robbie; this definitive series is a no-holds-barred look at the entertainer and will reveal a more nuanced and multifaceted character.

WHAM! (Netflix Film)

Director: Chris Smith (FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened) – Launch date: 5 July 2023

Official synopsis: In 1982, the best of friends and still teenagers – George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley as WHAM! set out to conquer the world. David Beckham (Untitled Netflix Series)

Director: Fisher Stevens (Before The Flood) – Launch date: TBC 2023

Official synopsis: The definitive multi-part series will go beyond the shine of stardom to explore David Beckham’s humble working class beginnings in East London, and the drive and determination that led him to become one of the most recognisable and scrutinised athletes of all time. It will feature a mixture of never-before-seen personal archive footage from the last forty years, candid current-day moments, and interviews with the family, friends, and footballing figures who have been part of his journey.

At Home With The Fury’s (Netflix Series)

Director: Josh Jacobs – Launch Date: Summer 2023

Official synopsis: At Home with the Furys will have exclusive access to the heavyweight champion of the world as he exits the ring and tries to embrace retirement with his extraordinary family including wife Paris, father John and his six children. Alongside changing nappies and the school run, At Home with the Furys will see Tyson constantly looking for projects to keep him busy, from a world tour to meet his fans, to lavish family holidays, encounters with other A-listers and impromptu family camping trips.
