Netflix has just added a new movie starring Irish acting legend Brendan Gleeson, and it's already been praised by critics.
H Is for Hawk is now available to stream on Netflix, with Gleeson leading a cast that also includes Claire Foy and fellow Irish actor Denise Gough.
Based on Helen Macdonald's bestselling memoir of the same name, the 2025 movie follows Helen, a woman struggling to cope with the sudden death of her father.
In the aftermath of her loss, she becomes fascinated with training a goshawk, bringing the wild bird into her life as she attempts to process her grief.
Gleeson plays Helen's father, Alisdair, and although his character is central to the story, his presence is felt throughout the film as Helen tries to come to terms with his death.
The movie has received a strong response from critics, with particular praise for the performances and its emotional take on grief.
Critics have also praised Gleeson's performance, with the Irish Independent calling him “the beating heart of this film”.
And, of course, there's a major Irish connection at the centre of it all.
So, if you're after something a bit more emotional for your next Netflix movie night, this could be one to add to the list.
