Plenty of Netflix additions to enjoy this weekend.

If you’re not heading to the cinema to check out 2023’s first great blockbuster, then there are plenty of newly added movies to the Netflix catalogue for you to enjoy this weekend, kicking off with…

CHARLIE’S ANGELS

The 2000 edition with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. It was mostly hated at the time, but is now seen for the very camp classic that it obviously is.

THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB

The Crown’s Claire Foy headlines this attempted reboot of The Girl… series, starring as Lisbeth Salander, caught up in another murderous conspiracy. 39% on Rotten Tomatoes feels about right.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

Meanwhile, the David Fincher adaptation, with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, is still a brilliant serial killer thriller to this day. You don’t even notice that it is over two-and-a-half hours long.

IN FROM THE SIDE

Two men who play on a British rugby team begin an adulterous affair that they must keep secret, or it could mean the end of the team as they know it. It won several awards during its festival run in late 2022.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH

This 2008 action-adventure had Brendan Fraser journeying… well… you can probably guess to where… with his nephew (Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson). Strong Jumanji vibes off this one.

LAND

Robin Wright directs and stars in this psychological drama about a woman who decides city life is no longer for her, so resets herself to a cabin in the woods with no modern amenities.

A QUIET PLACE PART II

Emily Blunt and the two young kids from the first movie are joined by Cillian Murphy in this post-apocalyptic, please-be-very-quiet horror sequel. Check out our interview with Murphy about this role (and his career to date) right here:

SAW / SAW II

Jigsaw and his complicated contraptions. The first one is still the best one, with the sequel arguably joint-second best?

TEMPTATION: CONFESSIONS OF A MARRIAGE COUNSELLOR

Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Vanessa Williams and Kim Kardashian star in this romantic drama from director Tyler Perry. 17% on Rotten Tomatoes.

TRAFFIC

A tremendous cast including Don Cheadle, Benicio del Toro, Michael Douglas, Luis Guzmán, Dennis Quaid, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Topher Grace, James Brolin and Benjamin Bratt star in this powerful crime drama set within the world of illegal drug trade.

WHITE HOUSE DOWN

President Jamie Foxx is in trouble when terrorist invade the White House, and only John McClane Channing Tatum can possibly save the day.
