Loads of new Netflix additions to choose from this month.
Once again, Netflix has deposited a large amount of movies to its streaming service library, some brand new, some golden oldies, and some… should be avoided at all costs. We’re here to help you with those categories!
THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE
An all-star voice cast adaptation of that mobile game where you fling birds at the shoddy constructions built by pigs. It actually… isn’t the worst movie ever made.
BLADES OF GLORY
Will Ferrell and Jon “Napoleon Dynamite” Heder headline this sports comedy set within the world of competitive ice skating.
THE BOSS
Melissa McCarthy stars in this comedy about a ruthless boss who is sent to prison for insider trading and must start her life from scratch upon release. 22% on Rotten Tomatoes feels about right.
EAT PRAY LOVE
The book that everyone was reading about 25 years ago got the big screen adaptation starring Julia Roberts and directed by Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story). It ended up massively mediocre.
THE EQUALIZER
Denzel Washington is a retired man with a particular set of skills, who takes it upon himself to exact revenge against a group of local criminals. We chatted to the man himself for the sequel, which you can check out right here:
EVOLUTION
The same team behind Ghostbusters try to for aliens what they’d already done for the paranormal. David Duchovny and Julianne Moore do their best, bless him.
FALL
Two young woman find themselves stuck at the top of a falling-apart radio tower. Starts off pretty good, but loses tension almost immediately.
FIFTY SHADES DARKER
The ending to the “steamy” “erotic” “drama” trilogy. No good.
HANGMAN
Al Pacino and Karl Urban attempt to hunt down a serial killer who bases his murders on a children’s game. 4% on Rotten Tomatoes. FOUR!
INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3
Not as good as the first two, but still some scares to be found.
LOOK WHO’S TALKING
Bruce Willis voices the new baby, with John Travolta and Kirstey Alley as the falling-in-love new parents.
NOCEBO
One of 2022’s best Irish movies.
PAUL BLART: MALL COP 2
6% on Rotten Tomatoes is 7% too high.
PETER RABBIT 2: THE RUNAWAY
Domhnall Gleeson and Rose Byrne interact with an animated rabbit voiced by James Corden in the pleasant enough sequel.
THE PUNISHER
The one with Thomas Jane. Not exactly good, but features lots of good bits. And also John Travolta completely unhinged as the villain.
THE STRAYS
An original 2023 Netflix thriller about a woman who has her seemingly perfect life turned upside down by the arrival of two strangers in her small home town.
THE UNHOLY
Jeffrey Dean Morgan headlines this paranormal horror about a girl who can seemingly contact the dead. It isn’t very good.
WE HAVE A GHOST
Another 2023 original Netflix movie, this time a comedy starring Jennifer Coolidge, David Harbour and Anthony Mackie. 42% on Rotten Tomatoes.
WHITE BOY RICK
The true story of a criminal who became the youngest FBI informant in the agency’s history. Matthew McConaughey, Jonathan Majors and Jennifer Jason Leigh star.
