Netflix’s upcoming documentary series could be your next true crime obsession

Stephen Porzio

The show lands on the streaming service later this month.

Netflix recently billed itself as “the home of true crime” and it has certainly been living up to the moniker of late.

Just today (4 November), the streaming giant released Catching Killers, a four-episode documentary series that sees the investigators behind infamous serial killer cases reveal the harrowing, chilling details of their extraordinary efforts.

Then, on 17 November, the second season of Netflix’s smash-hit show Tiger King will premiere.

However, for those on the search for more gripping, shocking true crime documentaries to binge, the streaming service is also releasing Dig Deeper: The Disappearance of Birgit MeierĀ this month.

Consisting of four episodes, the German series explores the case of Birgit Meier, a young woman who vanished in 1989.

Netflix’s logline for the documentary reads:

“Birgit Meier disappears, but the police have other concerns. Only Wolfgang Sielaff – her brother and himself a police detective – suspects that she is the victim of a brutal crime.

“The search of a suspect’s house brings some gruesome things to light.”

The documentary series is set to arrive on Netflix in Ireland on 26 November. You can watch a trailer for the show on the streaming service here.
