And here’s a bit more info on some of the shows you might not have heard of, but we’ll definitely be talking a lot about over the next 12 months or so…

The Staircase

If you’ve never seen the documentary The Staircase, check it out on Netflix right now.

This new miniseries is based on that true crime, with a crime novelist (Colin Firth) becoming the prime suspect in the murder of his wife (Toni Collette).

The series will co-star Juliette Binoche, Parker Posey, Sophie Turner, Dane DeHaan, Woody Harrelson and Michael Stuhlbarg.

DMZ

Based on the comic book series of the same name, DMZ centres around Alma (Rosario Dawson), a paramedic who becomes a symbol of hope on dystopian, demilitarised Manhattan island during the heights of the Second American Civil War.

The show is produced by Oscar-nominated Ava DuVernay (Selma, 13th), who also directs some of the episodes.

Love & Death

Written by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Undoing, Mr. Mercedes), this true-crime drama tells the story of a brutal axe murder in Texas in 1980, involving two seemingly best friends (Elisabeth Olsen and Lily Rabe).

The show co-stars Jesse Plemons, Krysten Ritter and Patrick Fugit.

The Time Traveler’s Wife

Theo James and Rose Leslie take on the roles played by Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams in the film adaptation of the hit novel, but this mini-series looks to fully plunge into that epic romance.

It will be directed by David Nutter, the man behind some of the best episodes of Game of Thrones.

And the best news of all: while HBO and HBO Max is still unavailable in Ireland, most (if not all) of the above will be made available with your NOW’s Entertainment Membership, usually within just a few hours of their American premiere.
