The new Home Alone and 7 more movies and shows to watch this week

Rory Cashin

New releases with The Rock, Angelina Jolie, Michael Keaton, Clint Eastwood, Ryan Reynolds and loads more!

We’ll admit it, there isn’t A LOT of new stuff happening in the cinema this week, but the new home releases have MORE than made up for that.

The latest episode of The Big Reviewski can be watched in full below or you can skip to the cinema reviews (8:35), home entertainment recommendations (14:00), and classic re-watches (25:20).

Here are the new cinema releases, which will all be available on the big screens around Ireland from Friday, 12 November.

CRY MACHO

Clint Eastwood sorta returning to the western genre is this week’s only new big screen release, so fans of the Oscar-winner should be happy to see he is still churning them out. In this movie, he travels to Mexico in order to bring the son of a friend safely back across the border, but they face a lot of trouble on the return trip.

And now on to the stuff you can watch at home this week, starting with…

THOSE WHO WISH ME DEAD

Angelina Jolie plays a forest fire fighter who goes on the run with a young boy who is the sole witness to a violent murder. With the assassins giving chase, they decide to set fire to the forest for good measure. A tense, heart-pounding action thriller.

Those Who Wish Me Dead will be available on NOW from Saturday, 13 November, and you can check out our interview with Angelina Jolie and her co-star Medina Senghore for the movie right here:

RED NOTICE

The Rock. Ryan Reynolds. Gal Gadot. A sexy, globe-trotting heist ‘n’ spy caper. Netflix’s most expensive production to date. All the pieces are in place, but like we said in our review, this movie is easy to enjoy despite not being very good at all…

Red Notice will be available on Netflix from Friday, 12 November.

HOME SWEET HOME ALONE

Aisling Bea, Ellie Kemper and Rob Delaney star in this updated sorta-reboot of the Home Alone franchise, with another young boy forgotten by his family at Christmas, forced to defend his home from robbers and intruders.

Home Sweet Home Alone will be available on Disney+ from Friday, 12 November.

DOPESICK

An all-star cast (Michael Keaton, Rosario Dawson, Kaitlyn Dever, Michael Stuhlberg, Peter Saarsgard) feature in this sprawling drama that tells the story behind the opioid crisis in America from multiple different vantage points.

The first two episodes of Dopesick will be available on Disney+ on Friday, 12 November, with the rest of the season arriving weekly after that. You can check out our interview with Kaitlyn Dever about the show right here:

CURSE OF THE CHIPPENDALES

A documentary series that peers behind the curtain of the infamous all-male stripper troupe, with the shady criminal dealings involved in it all, from mob ties to murder plots. And thongs, obviously.

All episodes from the first season of Curse of the Chippendales will be available on Prime Video on Friday, 12 November.

And finally, the amazingly exciting Pizza And A Movie section, with Rory and Eoghan each picking a movie for you to enjoy at home this weekend, and putting it to a public vote to decide which is the better pick…

Here are this week’s picks, with the vote once again going up on JOE’s Instagram channel, so keep an eye out on that to have your say!

Rory’s Pick – ENCHANTED

As another part of Disney+ Day, this modern classic fairy tale (and, arguably, Disney’s best live-action movie) has been added to their library. Amy Adams! Patrick Dempsey! Susan Sarandon! James Marsden! Idina Menzel!

Enchanted is available to watch on Disney+ from Friday, 12 November.

Eoghan’s Pick – THE BIG LEBOWSKI

The movie that gave JOE the inspiration for the title of its movie show, we’ve got another modern classic, but this one is a spectacularly violent comedy from The Coen Brothers.

The Big Lebowski is available to watch on NOW right now.
