‘What’s a shark doing on a plane?’ one character asks in the trailer, which is a fair question.
With the recent movies Under Paris and Something in the Water, sharks are currently all the rage at the movies.
That looks set to continue with the new film No Way Up, which boasts a particularly ridiculous premise – one we previously described as a cross between “Snakes on a Plane and The Meg” but with “Ireland’s own Colm Meaney in the mix”.
If you haven’t guessed it already, the movie – now streaming on Prime Video – revolves around a group of people involved in a plane crash that leaves them trapped at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean in an air pocket. Cue the sharks.
It should be noted that the lead character Ava (played by Sophie McIntosh, Brave New World) is the daughter of the Governor of California and as such was on the plane with her faithful bodyguard Brandon (who Meaney plays).
Now that you’ve probably dropped everything you’re doing and watched the trailer in full, you’re no doubt just as excited as we are to see The Snapper and Star Trek star – who replaced Kelsey Grammer in the role after he exited the film due to scheduling conflicts – fight off a bunch of bloodthirsty sharks.
Well, the good news is that Irish viewers can finally now check out the movie through Prime Video.
