Keanu Reeves will feature and it’s all about The Continental. Lock and load!

“People keep asking if I’m back and I haven’t really had an answer…But now, yeah, I’m thinkin’ I’m back! So you could either hand over your son or you can die screaming alongside him!”

And with those few words, action cinema would never the same again as Jonathan (said in our best Winston voice) reaffirmed his commitment to the dark arts of killing people via guns, knives, cars, dogs, pencils, and anything that he can find!

With Chapter 4 of the beloved action saga already given a release date, it’s clear that the franchise still has plenty of cinematic fuel left in the tank, but what about the TV show?

Well, we know that the show will revolve around the Continental Hotel which serves as a refuge for assassins. However, during a recent interview with Deadline, Starz COO Jeffrey Hirsch said he thinks the show is unlikely to air until at least late 2021 – that’s after the fourth film is released.

“My sense is that where we are today, the movie date (John Wick 4) has been set but we’re still in early development on the series so [it will air] most likely after,” he said.

John Wick alumni – directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch – along with its screenwriter Derek Kolstad are all involved with the TV show. In fact, Stahelski will direct the premiere episode.

When asked about how much screen time Keanu Reeves would get in the TV adaptation, Hirsch was coy.

“That’s a really good question that I’m not going to answer. No answer is as good a tease you’re going to get,” he said. “It’s a great franchise, we’re excited about bringing that show to the network.”

In terms of the show’s timeline, The Continental will set before the events of the films and will provide “a fresh look at The Continental and how that came into the being of John Wick. It’s way back in terms of the movies.”

In terms of what we’d love to see in the TV show, we’ve already outlined our ideas to make Mr. Wick’s visit to The Continental as enjoyable as possible.

Lock and load.
