Marvel-ous news.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get strange as it enters its third stage and while it’s been widely rumoured, tipped and hinted that Doctor Strange will be appearing alongside the Avengers, the news has now officially been confirmed.

In an exclusive chat with JOE Editor Paddy McKenna on Facebook Live, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will indeed be starring alongside The Avengers in the upcoming Infinity War.

The very talented Russo Brothers – who we previously chatted to about Captain America: Civil War – will be back on familiar ground as The Avengers look set to do battle against their greatest foe, the all-powerful Thanos and his gauntlet that’s brimming with Infinity Stones.

Very little plot details are known about the 2018 release, but if you can’t wait until then, we highly recommend a trip to your cinema to check out Doctor Strange.

A word of warning, stay until the end credits (wink, wink)

Here’s director Scott Derrickson confirming the rumour that will make all comic book fans very happy, as well as revealing his idea for a very Irish superhero…

Doctor Strange is in Irish cinemas form 25 October
