For those of you that are curious, the talented duo were picked to feature on the soundtrack because, in Blindboy's own words "1) Danny Boyle who directs Trainspotting is a fan and , 2) the song that they choose, Dad's Best Friend, is just a class rave tune." We agree 100%.
Given that the original Trainpsotting OST is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time, it's hard not to feel delighted for The Rubberbandits, a thought that Blindboy quickly played down with typical self-deprecating humour.
"I'm happy, I didn't know how big this news was. The nature of the entertainment industry is that there's nothing but disappointment, so, I'm trained not to get excited about anything until it actually happens", he said.
"The one thing that I'm the most happy about though is that the first track on this album is a remix from The Prodigy. I wouldn't be making music if I wasn't messing around with keyboards as a nine-year-old kid that was listening to The Prodigy. That's all that matters for me. Liam Howlett, who I worship as a producer, is going to hear my tune. My other hero, David Bowie, also wrote the lyrics for Lust for Life, which is great", he added.
"I'm trying to be flexible and realistic about the whole thing. If you want to maintain a decent sense of self esteem and mental health, you can't be taking too much external praise and negativity. What matters to me most is that as a nine-year-old, I was listening to Liam Howlett, and now I'm on an album with him", he said.
We're absolutely chuffed for them. Here's their interview in full.
