Get on this.

We’re in that strange section of the Christmas period where we know it’s after St Stephen’s Day, but we’re not at all certain what date or day it is.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s… Tuesday.

Maybe you’re looking for a TV recommendation to get you through the evening and you’re in luck if that’s why you’re here, because one of the best hidden gems of the last few years has just been added to Netflix.

We’re talking about Never Rarely Sometimes Always which Netflix quietly added to its library this week and boasting a 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it may be worth considering.

The basic plot revolves around Autumn, a teenager who discovers she’s pregnant so she, along with her cousin Skylar, set out to go to New York to have an abortion.

The film received sterling reviews upon its, albeit Covid-affected, release…

“With stunning performances from two completely genuine young leads, this is a movie people will talk about all year.” – Roger Ebert.

“Perfectly pitched and sensitively played, this is truthful, powerful and profoundly moving fare from a film-maker at the very top of her game.” – The Guardian.

“At once dreamlike and ruthlessly naturalistic, steadily composed yet shot through with roiling currents of anxiety, “Never Rarely Sometimes Always” is a quietly devastating gem.” – Variety.
