One of the highest grossing Irish movies of the decade is on TV tonight

Alan Loughnane

Make sure not to miss it…

It took the Irish box office by storm earlier back in 2017 with an astonishing box-office total of €550,000 from Irish cinemas.

Cardboard Gangsters proved a huge success with Irish audiences, continuing on that popularity when it was eventually released on DVD in October this year.

Directed by Mark O’Connor and starring John Connors (Love/Hate), Fionn Walton (What Richard Did) and Kierston Wareing (EastEnders) Cardboard Gangsters follows a group of wannabe gangsters as they attempt to gain control of the drug trade in Darndale, and pursue a life of power, drugs and sex.

Jay Connolly (Connors) is a part-time DJ and low-level drug dealer. When his welfare is cut off he decides it’s time for him and his gang to enter the big leagues.

The gang, seeking “girls when we want, sessions when we want, drugs when we want” are eager to follow Jay until the attention of the local drug kingpin lands Jay in hot water, leaving him with scores to settle and a war to win.

The movie is on Virgin Media Three on Saturday night at 9pm and is your chance to catch up with one of the most popular Irish movies of the decade if you haven’t already seen it.
