One of the best crime drama movies of recent years is on TV tonight

Based loosely on true events, the film has an 88% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Adapted to the screen from New York magazine's 2015 article 'The Hustlers at Scores', the film follows Destiny (Constance Wu), a struggling exotic dancer who works in a New York club.

This is as she meets and gets taken under the wing of an older, street-smart dancer named Ramona (Jennifer Lopez).

"Ramona soon shows Destiny how to finagle her way around the wealthy Wall Street clientele who frequent the club," the plot synopsis reads.

"But when the 2008 economic collapse cuts into their profits, the gals and two other dancers devise a daring scheme to take their lives back."

Written and directed by Lorene Scafaria (Succession), Hustlers also stars Cardi B, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart and Lizzo.

The movie was a smash hit with both audiences and critics upon release and holds an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Praise went in particular to Lopez's career-best turn, Scafaria's stylish direction and the film's brilliant use of music, with sequences set to Fiona Apple and Lorde songs being the stand-outs.

Hustlers is airing on TV tonight on E4 at 10.00 pm. It is also currently streaming on Netflix.
