Kerry actress Jessie Buckley won an Oscar for her role in the film.

Hamnet, one of 2025's most acclaimed films, has finally been added to NOW TV.

The movie stars Paul Mescal as William Shakespeare, with Kerry actress Jessie Buckley playing his wife Agnes. Based on Maggie O'Farrell's bestselling novel, the film tells the story of the couple's relationship and the devastating loss that would go on to inspire one of Shakespeare's most famous works.

Set in 16th-century England, the movie follows William and Agnes as they build a family together, before tragedy strikes and changes their lives forever.

Buckley, who is from Killarney, Co. Kerry, won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in the film, making history as the first Irish winner of the award.

Hamnet was directed by Chloé Zhao, who co-wrote the screenplay with O'Farrell.

The film received widespread praise for its performances, emotional storytelling and beautiful cinematography, with Buckley in particular earning huge acclaim for her performance.

Mescal has also been praised for bringing a quieter, more vulnerable side to Shakespeare, with the film focusing much more on the family behind the famous playwright than on his literary career.

So, if you missed Hamnet in cinemas or you've been waiting to see what all the fuss is about, it's now available to stream on NOW TV.
