Ant-Man And The Wasp director tells us how much about Avengers 4 he knew before making his movie

Rory Cashin

The MCU is a huge machine with many moving parts, and everyone needs to be aware of them all, at all times.

A few years back, Peyton Reed had the unenviable job of stepping into the shoes of fanboy director favourite Edgar Wright, when he stepped away from directing the first Ant-Man due to “creative difference”.

Jump forward to today, and Reed is one of the very few directors who has returned for a second movie, joining only Jon Favreau (Iron Man 1 and 2), Joss Whedon (Avengers 1 and 2), James Gunn (Guardians 1 and 2) and The Russo Brothers (The Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War).

Obviously, Disney and Marvel were quite happy with Reed’s work first time out, and we imagine they’re even happier this time, as Reed has delivered a hugely improved sequel, with an even more impressive cast, as Laurence Fishburne, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Hannah John-Kamen as the awesome villain Ghost.

We talk to Reed about that hugely impressive list of actors he got to work with, including convincing Pfeiffer to return to the comic-book world for the first time since Batman Returns, and just how much of Avengers 4 he knew before he could get to work on this sequel.

P.S. He tells us whether or not he actually knows how the Infinity War will come to an end…

On top of Reed, we also chatted to his cast, Ant-Man And The Wasp themselves Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, as well as the living legend that is Michael Douglas. You can check all those interviews out right here.

Ant-Man And The Wasp is in Irish cinemas from Friday 3 August, and you can check out the trailer right here:
