Pic: Irish comedian gets Father Ted tattoo during live show in Bray

Now that’s dedication...

Is that tattoo small, or just far away?

Comedian and curator of the Hardy Har Comedy Club, Adam Burke, sent us in a picture of the following tattoo, and boy does it have a story to tell…

The Hardy Har Comedy Club takes place in The Harbour Bar, Bray (voted ‘Best Bar in the World’ by Lonely Planet, by the way) every month and for December’s show, Adam decided to do something that hasn’t been attempted before.

You’ve probably guessed by now, but he only went and got a tattoo live on stage…

Speaking to JOE, Adam said: “I fancied doing something a little differently for our Christmas show, something that hadn’t ever been done on a comedy stage before and someone suggested that I get a tattoo…

“I took it a step further and decided to let the audience choose the design. So a month beforehand the audience picked the theme of ‘FATHER TED’.

“We had suggestions of ‘a lovely cup of tea’ from Pauline McLynn who played Mrs. Doyle, ‘I’ve no willy’ from Pat McDonnell who played Eoin McLove and the nation’s favourite, Dustin The Turkey, suggested ‘My Lovely Horse’ on Twitter.

“But it was the ‘this cow is small, that cow is far away’ tattoo that captured the audiences’ attention and it was suggested by a random Hardy Har punter. So, on the night, that tattoo got the nod and I got the ink!

“I think it’s a bit of craic. Not all tattoos have to have a beautiful, deep meaning to them!

“I love [Father Ted] anyway, thank God that was the theme they picked! Just imagine if they had picked ‘One Direction’ or something as the theme… It may not look it, but I think I got a pretty lucky end result… A calf on my calf!”

Fair play, Adam. If that wasn’t enough Father Ted for one day then you might like to check out this pretty cool Father Ted themed Christmas present from one Irish brother to another.
