Pic: The Japanese army built a massive Darth Vader ice sculpture and it’s amazing

Wow

The fantastic is strong in this one.

Film history has taught us that Darth Vader is one cold bastard and he’s never looked as cold as he does at the Sapporo Snow Festival right now.

Luke’s auld fella has been shorn of the traditional all-black garb he’s used to wearing, but he looks all the better for it in what is a quite sensational 15-metre high ice sculpture of himself and three stormtroopers.

The sculpture, which is sponsored by Disney, has been approved by Lucasfilm to promote Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is due for release later this year.

It was built by the 11th Brigade of the Japanese Ground Self-Defence Force and it took them over a month to complete.

It’s fair to say the hard work was worth it.
