Netflix has just added Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, the 2023 movie from comedy trio Please Don't Destroy (SNL).
Narrated by John Goodman, the film follows Ben (Ben Marshall), John (John Higgins) and Martin (Martin Herlihy), three childhood friends turned deadbeat co-workers who get swept up in an adventure to find a priceless treasure.
Amidst their quest, they must fend off bears, desperate park rangers (played by the hilarious Meg Stalter and X Mayo) and a cult leader (Bowen Yang).
While Foggy Mountain feels less like a movie and more like a collection of sketches strung together, thankfully, many of those sketches are extremely funny, making the film well worth seeking out for those who like their comedies short and silly.
It feels similar in terms of humour to the movies by The Lonely Island, such as Hot Rod and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, a comedy trio that had a similar start to Please Don't Destroy.
Also for Conan O'Brien fans, he puts in a brilliantly deadpan turn in Foggy Mountain as Ben's increasingly fed-up dad and boss.
Holding an 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes (it's worth noting that critics weren't quite as kind), you can read a sample of some of the positive reviews for the film here:
Blu-ray.com: "A strong feature-length debut for Please Don’t Destroy, mostly proving they can handle the run time and remain fresh with their comedic targets, and their high-energy, good-natured nonsense is great fun to watch."
Decider: "With incredible performances, high-quality jokes, and ambitious production, the movie is a worthwhile adventure that centres on the value of friendship. In the end, you’re bound to be craving more from the comedy trio."
IGN: "Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain has way more laughs than the standard direct-to-streaming comedy, with some gloriously silly running gags and hilarious non sequiturs."
Slate: "I don’t know how long the boys can keep tapping the well of their surreal imaginations before they become exhausting. But I do know that The Treasure of Foggy Mountain made me laugh so hard I missed a number of jokes."
Please Don't Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain is streaming in Ireland and the UK on Netflix now.
