6 great new (and classic) additions coming to Prime Video in August

Rory Cashin

Including new movies with Colin Farrell and Liam Neeson, plus a new show from the makers of Love Island!

Following the recent news that Amazon Prime will be increasing its prices for customers – which will also include access for Prime Video for those members – you might be thinking to yourself: what will that increase in cost be getting you?

Well, quite a bit, as it turns out. Aside from the imminent arrival of the most expensive TV show in history, in the shorter term, you’ll also be getting access to the following:

THIRTEEN LIVES

Directed by Ron Howard (Apollo 13, Frost/Nixon) and based on a true story, this dramatic thriller details the rescue mission put in place when a boys’ soccer team found themselves trapped in a flooded cave system in Thailand following a flash flood in 2018.

Check out our interview with movie’s star Colin Farrell below.

The movie arrives on Friday, 5 August.

A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN

Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), Chanté Adams (A Journal For Jordan) and D’Arcy Carden (The Good Place) headline this reimagining of the hit 1992 sports comedy-drama.

All eight episodes will arrive on Friday, 12 August.

COSMIC LOVE

The makers of Love Island embark on a new reality series, this time matching up potential life partners based entirely on their astrological symbols… to see if love is literally written in the stars.

All 10 episodes will debut on Friday, 12 August.

MEMORY

Liam Neeson teams up with the director of GoldenEye and Casino Royale for this action-thriller about a killer for hire who becomes a target himself when he refuses to complete a job for a dangerous criminal organisation.

The movie debuts on Friday, 19 August.

SAMARITAN

A teenage boy believes that his reclusive neighbour (Sylvester Stallone) is actually famed superhero Samaritan, who is believed by most to have died 20 years earlier. With their city on the brink of criminal chaos, the young boy tries to coax the hero out of retirement.

The movie arrives on Friday, 26 August.

LICORICE PIZZA

The latest movie from Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, Magnolia) was recently nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Picture. The period romantic drama focuses on a teenage boy (Cooper Hoffman) and his infatuation with an older woman (Alana Haim).

The movie arrives on Friday, 26 August.
