The film puts a modern spin on Assault on Precinct 13.

Prime Video has re-added Green Room, the incredible 2016 indie thriller from writer-director Jeremy Saulnier (Blue Ruin, Rebel Ridge).

The movie stars the late and great Anton Yelchin (Fright Night) as Pat, the bassist in the young, struggling US punk band: the Ain't Rights. Coming to the end of a long, unsuccessful tour of the Pacific Northwest, the group is about to call it quits when they get an unexpected booking at an isolated, run-down club deep in the Oregon backwoods.

What initially seems to be just another third-rate gig turns sinister when the Ain't Rights discover that white supremacists run the bar. Then, after playing their set, the band accidentally witness a shocking act of violence backstage.

"Now trapped, the band must face off against the club’s depraved owner, Darcy Banker (a terrifying, cast-against-type Patrick Stewart, X-Men), a man who will do anything to protect the secrets of his nefarious enterprise," the plot synopsis adds.

Made on a budget of just $5 million, Green Room puts a modern and timely spin on classic claustrophobic survival thrillers such as Assault on Precinct 13 and Southern Comfort.

The film punches above its weight thanks to its twisty plot, its thunderous pacing, its extremely hard-hitting yet thoughtful depiction of violence, and its subtle strain of dark humour.

Holding a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score, you can read a sample of some of the rave reviews for Green Room below:
