One of the best mystery thrillers of the 21st century is on TV tonight

It recently had its 10 year anniversary.

A new Christmas action movie from the director of Face/Off is available to stream now, but if you need more to watch – here are the films airing on TV tonight (27 December).

Prisoners – Sky Witness – 9pm
Our pick for this evening is this 2013 movie which focuses around husband and father Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) whose daughter goes missing while playing outside during Thanksgiving.

As a detective with his own demons (Jake Gyllenhaal) investigates the disappearance, Dover takes matters into his own hands – targeting a young man (Paul Dano) who he thinks is responsible.

The breakthrough film for now Hollywood A-list director Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Dune and Sicario), Prisoners’ stellar performances, dread-inducing atmosphere and twisty thought-provoking screenplay make it one of the best mystery thrillers released in the 21st century.

Deadpool 2 – Film4 – 9pm
The self-referential merc with the mouth (Ryan Reynolds) is back and he knows he is in a sequel.

Braveheart – RTÉ2 – 9pm
Mel Gibson’s Oscar Best Picture-winning historical epic.

Central Intelligence – ITV4 – 9pm
A buddy action comedy movie with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart in the lead roles.

Vacation – Comedy Central – 9pm
The fifth and final theatrical installment of the legendary Vacation movie series.

Ann – RTÉ One – 9.30pm
This 2022 Irish film dramatises the real-life story of Ann Lovett, a 15-year-old girl who died in childbirth in a grotto in Granard, Longford in 1984.

The Woman in Black – BBC Two – 10pm
A very solid ghost story starring Daniel Radcliffe.

Catch Me If You Can – Channel 4 – 10pm
This Steven Spielberg caper about a young con man (Leonardo DiCaprio) in the ’60s is incredibly entertaining.

Deadly Cuts – Virgin Media One – 10pm
This 2022 Irish comedy revolves around a North Dublin hairdressers as it fights for its survival against a local protection racket and a greedy developer.

The Blues Brothers – TG4 – 10.20pm
The cult classic musical comedy.

American Pie: Reunion – Comedy Central – 11pm
The last in the sex comedy franchise to get a cinema release.

Die Hard with a Vengeance – ITV4 – 11.05pm
The third entry in the Die Hard franchise and arguably the best of the sequels.

Man on Fire – Film4 – 11.20pm
One of Denzel Washington’s most underrated movies which we recently spotlighted.

Mrs Henderson Presents – RTÉ One – 11.30pm
Judi Dench stars in this well-liked biographical musical film as Laura Henderson, the British socialite who opened the popular Windmill Theatre in London.
