WATCH: This apocalyptic showcase ad for the PS4 made in Ireland is an eye-popping spectacle

“Live in your world… play in ours.”

Over the years, a lot of big name directors have directed commercials for the PlayStation consoles.

Rupert Sanders (Ghost In The Shell), Noam Murro (300: Rise Of An Empire), Chris Cunningham (the visualist behind those incredibly Aphex Twin music videos), and more besides over the years have had a hand in showing off the gaming platform.

With news coming this week that the PS4 won’t be replaced by the PS5 for at least another three years, now is as good a time as any to remind those who haven’t invested in the entertainment system yet that they should DEFINITELY get one, which brings us to director Dermot Malone and producer of Matt D’Arcy of Banjoman Films in Dublin.

They’ve worked together on this new spec commercial for the PS4, and it is definitely an attention-grabber, with some hugely impressive visuals and effects, tied to a strong message about climate change.

We’ve watched it a few times, and we’ve got to say that there is definitely a vibe of Black Mirror about the mini-movie, and that is about the best compliment we can think of.
