Prime Video has just added one of 2025’s best thriller movies

It's a real hidden gem.

Directed by David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water, The Outlaw King), the film stars Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, Sound of Metal) as a mysterious fixer based in New York City.

His speciality is brokering lucrative payoffs between corrupt corporations and the whistleblowers who threaten them.

To protect himself, the fixer keeps his identity secret through meticulous planning and always following an exacting set of personal rules.

He also never meets face-to-face with individuals he does business with. Instead, he communicates with them through a telecommunications relay service for the deaf.

When the fixer takes on a new client in Sarah (Lily James - Baby Driver, The Iron Claw), a whistleblower fearing for her life, he develops feelings for her.

As Sarah finds herself in increasing danger, the fixer is pressured into breaking his own rules.

Relay's cast also includes Sam Worthington (Avatar) and Willa Fitzgerald (Strange Darling) as members of a corporate security team tracking Sarah, as well as Matthew Maher (Air) and Victor Garber (Titanic).

Mackenzie's movie is the type of smart adult-focused thriller that feels increasingly rare in Hollywood.

It's so fascinating and gripping to watch Ahmed's fixer navigate the morally murky underbelly the film depicts and constantly come up with ways of staying multiple steps ahead of the corporations desperate to take him down.

There is a thick air of paranoia that runs through Relay, evoking memories of classic conspiracy thrillers like Blow Out and Michael Clayton.

There are even shades of the influential French masterpiece Le Samouraï in Ahmed's character, in the way he observes but struggles to maintain a strict internal code

Also, without spoiling, when the action and plot turns inevitably come in Relay, they are extremely tense and surprising, respectively.
