#TRAILERCHEST: Robert Sheehan has to help save the world in mega-blockbuster Geostorm

“I’m sorry I’m late… I just got here from space.”

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Geostorm.

Plot’s it all about?

A few months back, we showed you the first teaser trailer for Geostorm, and while it did look like it was going to be the kind of “Turn Brain Off NOW” entertainment we all sometimes need from the big-screen, we had no idea just how self-aware it was going to be.

Or, at very least, how self-aware it appears to be.

From the mind that brought us Stargate, Universal Soldier and Independence Day, we’ve got Gerard Butler playing a weather scientist (Strike One) who has to go up to space to stop a weather machine from destroying the planet (Strike Two), while he convinces his brother to kidnap the President (Strike Three) and give him the codes that will stop a major weather event from happening simultaneously across the globe (Strikes Four through to A Million).

In the mix is our very own Robert Sheehan, who pops up in the new trailer as part of the astronaut team who have to help Butler take down that evil satellite system. How much he actually appears in the finished film is anyone’s guess at this point, though.

But the whole thing smacks like it is very aware of just how ridiculous it all is. We’ve all seen the world brought to its knees over and over again on the big screen, usually taken a little bit too seriously, so it is nice to see a big blockbuster lean the other way and have some fun with it.
