There’s a bit of a Mad Men reunion happening in this trailer for star-studded new show The Romanoffs

Rory Cashin

The reunion makes sense considering it is the new project from the creator of Mad Men.

There are no less than four Mad Men alumni reuniting for new show The Romanoffs, which should be enough by itself to hook in all of the fans of that hugely popular series.

Christina Hendricks (who played Joan), John Slattery (Roger), Cara Buono (Faye) and Jay R. Ferguson (Stan) will be joined by a frankly jaw-dropping list of brilliants performers including Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight), Diane Lane (Unfaithful), Isabelle Huppert (Elle), Amanda Peet (Identity), Jack Huston (Ben-Hur), Kathryn Hahn (Step Brothers), Noah Wyle (E.R.), Paul Reiser (Aliens), Andrew Rannells (Girls) and more.

Coming from Mathew Weiner, the same creator as Mad Men, it doesn’t surprise us in the least that he managed to attract such an incredible cast, but so far we’re not working with a huge amount of information as to what the show is actually about, with the official premise as follows:

“The Romanoffs is a contemporary anthology series set around the globe featuring eight separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family.”

Huh.

The trailer doesn’t reveal too much more, except that it obviously involves a lot of privileged (and not so privileged) folk arguing over legacy, money, power, and the access to those things that being part of that family should provide them.

We don’t have long to wait to find out more, as the show premieres of Amazon Prime on Friday 12 October.
