That would make your day alright.
Russell Crowe has given a major shoutout to Irish artist Barry Jazz Finnegan for his charcoal mural of Maximus Decimus Meridius from Crowe’s 2000 blockbuster hit Gladiator.
Finnegan shared the piece on Twitter yesterday, noting that he actually completed it seven years ago. Finnegan wrote: But I want to do another charcoal piece from the movie Gladiator. I have my eyes on two scene: Maximus is smelling the dirt before the first battle or Maximus puts the axe in the foot of Tigris of Gaul. But nothing is final, any ideas?”
They both sound like dope ideas to us, and we’re pretty sure Russell Crowe would agree, especially given his reaction to the first piece.
This one is from 7 years ago! But I want to do another charcoal piece from the movie Gladiator. I have my eyes on two scene:

To quote the man himself: “Holy shit… amazing.” Couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

This isn’t the first time that Barry’s work has caught our eye either. The artist was commissioned to create a mural of Conor McGregor ahead of The Notorious’ rematch against Nate Diaz.
