Samuel L Jackson may have let slip the return of a big baddie in the next Marvel movie

Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury has been a cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe almost from the get-go.

He first rocked up at the end credits stinger for the first Iron Man movie when he mentioned to Tony Stark about the possible creation of an Avengers initiative.

With the upcoming Black Panther movie, Jackson very clearly wanted to be involved in the MCU’s first standalone black superhero movie, but unfortunately the power’s that be have Fury busy elsewhere.

Talking to Hot 97 about his new movie Kong, and a whole host of other stuff (full interview below), when his absence from Black Panther came up.

One thing in particular that Jackson said got everyone’s attention: “They’re not letting my black ass go through Wakanda. I was trying. I asked. I was like, ‘What do you mean?’… You didn’t see me in Civil War, I’m still out there trying to figure out what the Skull is doing…”

For anyone who isn’t 100% educated on the MCU, the Red Skull was the big bad guy from Captain America: The First Avenger, and he was played to perfection by Hugo Weaving. Red Skull is the ultimate Captain America villain, and unfortunately he was kind of completely wasted in one of the MCU’s more mediocre movies.

There had been rumblings before that Weaving might be getting folded back into the mix, as the last time we seen him (SPOILERS!) he just kind of disappeared into a ball of light when he touched the Tesseract.

But with the Tesseract and the few other important items being the centre-piece for all the action in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, this could be the prime time for Red Skull to return.

Either that or Jackson just misspoke and he meant to say Thanos or Loki instead. We’re hoping it’s the former, though!
