Saoirse Ronan and Jimmy Fallon perform ‘Fairytale of New York’ on the Tonight Show

Alan Loughnane

It’s actually not bad.

It’s ticking towards Christmas and festive tunes are now the norm on the radio again, although for some stations they were the norm in November FFS.

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Saoirse Ronan joined the host in performing one of the best-known Christmas tracks of all time, ‘Fairytale of New York’ by The Pogues.

Ronan hasn’t always hit the mark on these shows – the SNL skit of Aer Lingus still haunts us and will continue to do so for many more years – but this is a great effort.

Fallon does a more than adequate imitation of Shane MacGowan and Ronan holds up her end of the bargain and the pair pulled off a better than decent performance.

Have a look below and see what you think…
