A blow to HBO…

The hackers who are responsible for the massive breach in HBO in July are not sitting on their hack and have threatened to leak the final episode of the current season of Game of Thrones.

The hackers behind the attack, the “Mr Smith Group”, have threatened to Mashable that they will leak episode 7 of the series online.

The episode is not due to air until Sunday and would be a major blow to HBO should it be leaked online before it airs on the American network.

The hackers also sent Mashable a list of usernames and passwords from various HBO social media accounts including  @HBO, @GameOfThrones, and @WestworldHBO and various other Instagram and Giphy accounts.

They claimed to have access to many HBO platforms already.

The cyber attack on HBO was carried out in July and in the time since, HBO refused to pay a multimillion dollar ransom demand in return for not leaking their content online. As a result, a number of documents, emails and shows have been shared online by the hackers.

HBO refused to pay on the grounds that TV Show piracy is so prevalent that the threat of leaking them is not enough to force payment from them.

Game of Thrones is the most pirated TV show on earth and has been plagued by leaks in recent times. Two episodes so far this season have ended up online prior to their airing on HBO.

Although, it didn’t seem to have a huge effect on episode 4, The Spoils of War, which was leaked online but was still the highest rated episode of the show so far.
