Bruce Willis starred in the original Sin City as Detective Hartigan, set on protecting Jessica Alba’s character Nancy Callahan, a girl who was abducted by a child molester but rescued by the policeman in time.

There was uncertainty if Willis’ character would return as a host of stars have already signed up and there was no word about him until now. Director Robert Rodriguez confirmed Willis as cast in an interview with MTV, “Bruce is back, so you’ll be seeing him.”

The returning cast includes Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson and Jaime King while the new cast members include Joseph Gordon-Levitt , Dennis Haysbert, Jamie Chung, Christopher Meloni, Juno Temple, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, and Josh Brolin to replace Clive Owen as Dwight.

Rodriguez also revealed a little about Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character; “It’s a new character. He plays a gambler, a very cocky gambler, who comes in and tries to beat the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game. The story’s called ‘The Long, Bad Night.’ He beats the wrong guy in a game and bad stuff happens to him.”

The storyline of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For sees Dwight (Brolin), chased down by his only love Ava Lord. It explains why Dwight’s face has changed dramatically.

Rodriguez also revealed that the new movie will be released in 3D and it will “blow our minds”. Sounds good, we’re looking forward to it.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is set for release in the US next October with a likely release European release in early 2014.
