Steven Spielberg hints at more Indiana Jones movies, but with a HUGE twist

Michael Lanigan

The director sees the series going on long after Harrison Ford hangs his hat up.

While the fifth Indiana Jones movie is set to begin filming in April 2019, Steven Spielberg is already contemplating where the iconic action-adventure franchise might head from there.

By the sounds of it, he is looking to really shake things up too.

Speaking to The Sun, the director has suggested that everyone’s favourite archaeologist might be rebooted with a female lead stepping into Harrison Ford’s boots.

“We’d have to change the name from Jones to Joan. And there would be nothing wrong with that.”

“This will be Harrison Ford’s last Indiana Jones movie,” he later added. “I am pretty sure, but it will certainly continue after that.”

The fifth movie in the series is down to be released on 10 July, 2020.

Currently, Spielberg is busily promoting his latest epic, Ready Player One, and he was also reportedly hanging around Wicklow while working on the upcoming horror movie, The Turning.
