Stranger Things Season 3 has broken viewer records on Netflix
Did you watch it all this weekend? You weren't alone.
After the perceived disappointment of the second season - people still aren't quite over that mini-X-Men episode - most folk agree that the third season of Stranger Things was a massive return to form, hitting 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It was also a massive nostalgia fest, really heavily leaning into the '80s setting, which allowed the show's makers to strike up 75 brand tie-ins, including big hitters like Coca-Cola and Burger King.
So on top of being a big money-maker during its production, Netflix have also revealed that the show was a huge hit with audiences, with 40.7 million household accounts watching the show since it was released on Thursday 4 July.
Additionally, 18.2 million of those accounts have already finished the entire season in those few days since it was launched.
Previous record-setters for the streaming service include the Sandra Bullock-starring horror Bird Box, which was enjoyed by 45 million accounts in its first week of release back in January, while the Adam Sandler/Jennifer Aniston comedy Murder Mystery was viewed by 30.9 million accounts in its first three days of release in June.
With news that Netflix are about to kick off production on their biggest budgeted project to date, we should probably expect this record to be broken again before too long...
