A ’90s cult favourite action flick is among the movies on TV tonight

It is one of the rare movies to blend action and sports.

One of 2023’s best movies is now available to stream at home. However, if you need more films to watch – here is a list of the ones airing on TV this Tuesday evening (12 December).

The Mechanic – Film4 – 9pm
Jason Statham is a hitman in this very entertaining action movie which features the incredible villain line: “I’m going to put a price on your head so big, that when you look in the mirror your reflection’s gonna want to shoot you in the face.”

American Pie – Comedy Central – 9pm
The raunchy teen sex comedy that launched a franchise.

Tales That Witness Madness – Legend Xtra – 9pm
A ’70s anthology horror movie from Britain featuring amongst its cast Donald Pleasance, Joan Collins and Kim Novak.

Sudden Death – ITV4 – 10pm
Our pick for tonight sees recent Late Late guest Jean-Claude Van Damme play a former fireman who takes on a group of terrorists (led by Powers Boothe) holding the Vice President and others hostage during a major ice hockey match.

Thanks to an at the peak of his powers Van Damme and its mix of action and sports, Sudden Death was a box-office success upon release in 1995.

The movie is now widely considered as being among its star’s best films, while some even rank it as being among the best action flicks of its decade.

Office Christmas Party – Film4 – 10.50pm
Another raunchy comedy, except this time set at Christmas and featuring amongst its cast Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston.

The Last Bus – BBC Two – 11.15pm
In this 2021 drama, Timothy Spall plays a man who travels the length of the UK to scatter his late wife’s ashes.

Man Up – BBC One – 11.55pm
In this decent rom-com starring Lake Bell and Simon Pegg, a single woman takes the place of a stranger’s blind date.
