After three years on TV, someone is finally suing John Oliver and his show Last Week Tonight

He even saw this coming.

We guess some people just don’t have a sense of humour… (That was a joke, please don’t sue us!)

John Oliver has made fun of just about everyone since his show began in April 2014.

He regularly goes after Donald Trump, his entire staff and most of his family.

For equal opportunists, he has also poked fun at Barack and Hilary over the years.

The British government, the Queen, Putin, the Tobacco industry and the great nation of Ireland have all been in cross-hairs over the years.

Everyone has taken it on the chin – kind of like when you get made fun of on South Park – it is just a right of passage at this point, and you grin and bare it and move on with your life.

Not so the Murray Energy Corporation CEO Robert Murray, who sent the show a cease-and-desist letter when their research team began prodding them, one that caused John to prod all the harder once the show actually aired.

And now, according to The Daily Beast, Murray is suing Oliver, the Last Week Tonight writers, HBO, and Time Warner for “[executing] a meticulously planned attempt to assassinate the character of and reputation of [himself] and his companies.”

Oliver clearly knew what he was getting into, as he states on the show: “I have to proceed with caution. I’m not going to say, for instance, that Bob Murray looks like a geriatric Dr. Evil, even though he clearly does”, before saying some much, much harsher stuff.

Oliver also brings up the fact that Murray is famously sue-happy, but whether or not the case will make it court is another matter.

One thing is for sure, we’re very much looking forward to seeing how Oliver and the writers of Last Week Tonight react to this.
