One of Ireland’s best films of 2025 is now available to stream for free

Released in cinemas last November, the 'raw, powerful and deeply moving' film was nominated for an IFTA award.

Accessible through the RTÉ Player, the film chronicles the fight for justice by survivors of Ireland's Magdalene Laundries and Mother and Baby Homes.

The documentary captures the determination of these women, supported by the advocacy group Justice for Magdalenes (JFM), as their battle to hold the Irish government accountable for decades of institutional abuse takes them all the way to the United Nations.

Narrated by Imelda Staunton and featuring Irish singer Una Healy in its segments that use actors to reenact past events, Testimony was made by the acclaimed director Aoife Kelleher (Mrs Robinson, One Million Dubliners).

Released in Irish cinemas last November, the film was acclaimed, with Screen Daily describing it as "raw, powerful and shot through with anger and defiance".

The Daily Mail (UK) also wrote in its review: "The shocking story has been dramatised in films such as Philomena (2013) and Small Things Like These (2024), but it needed telling in documentary form, and Testimony does that compellingly."

The film was later nominated for an IFTA award in the Best Feature Documentary category.
