Our TV movie pick for tonight (Thursday, 15 January) is The Equalizer 2, the excellent second entry in Denzel Washington's beloved Equalizer trilogy of action films.
The sequel sees Marine Corps veteran and DIA agent Robert McCall (two-time Oscar-winner Washington, Training Day) trying to live a peaceful life in Boston as a Lyft driver.
After one of his close friends (Oscar-winner Melissa Leo, The Fighter) is killed, however, McCall seeks revenge alongside his former DIA partner (Pedro Pascal, The Last of Us).
The first sequel of Washington's career, it is clear what attracted the legendary actor to The Equalizer 2 with its compelling lead character, bone-crunching action and punchy script.
The real highlight, though, is the movie's climactic coastal shootout set amidst a hurricane.
The Equalizer 2 is airing on TV tonight on Film4 at 9pm. It is also available to stream on Channel 4's website, as well as the services NOW and Prime Video.
