Colm Meaney, Dervla Kerwan and Kate Mulgrew are part of the new show's cast.

RTÉ has unveiled the first trailer and a release date for The Galway Bay Murders, its new crime drama starring Colm Meaney (The Commitments), John Connors (Love/Hate) and Kate Mulgrew (Orange Is the New Black).

Mulgrew plays the lead role in the series, which was previously titled 'The Yank'. Her character is Nora Savage, a seasoned NYPD detective who takes a career break after a traumatic event and moves to her family home in Galway on an exchange programme with An Garda Síochana.

The Galway Bay Murders unveils first trailer and release date:

Expecting a change of pace, Nora is unexpectedly pulled into a murder investigation involving a female climate activist.

"As she goes head-to-head with a ruthless environmental magnate, putting those closest to her at risk, she is forced to confront her personal demons head-on," the plot synopsis adds.

"As the investigation builds to a tense and savage climax, it pushes Nora and the squad into a thrilling hunt for the killer."

Premiering next month, The Galway Bay Murders is from writer Eithne Verling, making her TV drama debut. The six-part show was created specifically for Mulgrew after the pair had a chance meeting while the actress was on holiday in Galway.

The series is directed by acclaimed filmmaking duo Joe Lawlor and Christine Molloy (Kin, Rose Plays Julie). Its cast also includes Cillian O'Sullivan (Daredevil: Born Again), Clinton Liberty (House of the Dragon), Dervla Kirwan (House of Guinness), India Mullen (These Sacred Vows) and Jack Rowan (MobLand).

When is The Galway Bay Murders' release date, and where can I watch it?

The Galway Bay Murders will air in Ireland on Sunday, 8 November 2026 on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player. It will be released in the UK at a later date on ITV1 and ITVX.
