The insanely violent trailer for Boss Level is like John Wick meets Groundhog Day

Time to heat up the popcorn for this R-rated, fun-filled, explosion-fest…..

Some action movies are serious tales of a warrior’s journey. Some are an action ride where John Travolta and Nic Cage swap faces and go to war while doves fly past in slow motion.

Some are even super-violent martial arts tales of Triad wars in Jakarta where lads use circular saw blades as weapons.

But none are the tale of a retired special forces officer, played by the underrated Frank Grillo, who is trapped in a never-ending time-loop on the day of his death.

Going by the trailer for Boss Level below, this film does not follow the conventional rules of action movies and instead takes its cues from video games, which is something we’re very much here for. You know we love a Cannes-winning piece of arthouse cinema… but what we also really love is a minigun-spinning, sword-fighting, “Get Some!”-screaming, fiery fiesta and this movie looks like Boss Level will tick all those boxes.

It’s not just any old action B-Movie either. It’s directed by Joe Carnahan, the man behind The Grey, Smoking Aces, The A-Team and Narc, and the cast is outstanding as well. Naomi Watts, Michelle Yeoh and Quinton (Rampage) Jackson appear opposite Grillo, while Mel Gibson is playing the mysterious villain Ventor.

The movie’s release has been delayed twice so far, but with the timing of this brand new trailer, it’s looking like we could potentially be set for a VOD release around April 2021.

So strap on your bulletproof vest, put on a pair of awesome-looking Aviators and get ready to check out a hell of a trailer…
