Exciting news for fans of the crime drama.
David Chase, the creator of The Sopranos, is working on a new “mystery project” with Michael Imperioli, who played Christopher Moltisanti on the hit show.
Imperioli confirmed the news while appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show to promote his role in the second series of the comedy-drama The White Lotus.
As well as being an actor, Imperioli wrote several episodes of The Sopranos and also hosts Talking Sopranos, a podcast devoted to the show, alongside Steve Schirripa who played Bobby Baccalieri in the series.
After chatting about The Sopranos’ famously ambiguous ending, Fallon asked Imperioli if he is still in touch with Chase.
The actor responded: “Yeah, we’re writing a movie together right now for me and Steve Schirripa.
“It’s a mystery project. Can’t talk about it. David and I are writing it together.
“I can’t say what it’s about but when it comes out, I’m going to come here, before anybody, I’m going to come here and talk about it.”
While Imperioli was tight-lipped about the project, some have speculated the movie could be a further expansion of The Sopranos universe following on from last year’s prequel film for the show The Many Saints of Newark.
